I’ve been near Wood Ducks on many occasions, but haven’t often managed to get very close. In wilder areas like a northern marsh they don’t usually like the attention of people, but today was a little different.
Tuning into a birding forum on the web, I was excited to learn that a pair of Wood Ducks had been spotted in Toronto’s High Park.
The morning started out rainy, but checking the radar weather images the afternoon was looking good.
I snuck away to the park for a few hours, enjoyed the sun and managed to find these gorgeous creatures. I’m in awe of how beautiful these ducks are, and thankful that I managed to get close enough to take some quality shots of them.
While there I saw some sort of unidentified heron, and a couple of hawks, but these shots were definitely the highlight of the day.
